We began over 15 years ago raising Champion English Cockers and operating a public boarding kennel.  Several years ago, life on the Farm changed dramatically when I adopted my first greyhound, Shining Motion, from Greyt Rescues of Indiana, www.greytrescues.com .  Not long after, we began donating kennel space to Greyt Rescues for dogs in need, coming off the track. We've "chipped" since then (like a Lay's potato chip, you can't have just one greyhound!) and now have 3 adopted girls, Kelly, Hilite and Noodle Adele.  There are 13 dogs, 2 horses, 4 cats and various other country critters that live here full time.  We have also been home to 3 rescued Standardbred horses retired from racing (yes their fate is parallel to the greyhound).

The FarmYard Dog was born out of my desire to do more for this incredibly sensitive and soulful creature, the Greyhound.  I was devastated when I unexpectedly lost my first girl, "Shine".  My friend at www.longneckdeco.com (Beautiful Collars for Beautiful Hounds) encouraged me to put my creative nature to good use.  I began handpainting and selling greyhound themed folkart signs in Shine's memory and donating a percentage of my sales to help other greyhounds in need. The rest is history and now I have designed several tee shirts, expanded into custom made jewelry items and created "Dog Speak" bandana's.

The public boarding kennel was closed on January 1, 2004 in order to donate more kennel space and time to needy greyhounds.

I hope you like what you see here!  Please remember as you tour my site that a percentage of your purchase is donated to various greyhound rescue groups and organizations that work tirelessly toward finding homes for an over abundance of greyhounds every year.  See my 'Donations' page for a list of those I have been able to help thanks to your purchases.

And, if you can, please adopt or support your local Greyhound Rescue Organization.  Thank you.
